Under the Sea: Sea Lore Polishes

2012-08-24

There is a new Indie polish line out called Sea Lore.  These polishes are created by my friend, Jamie and she was kind enough to share a few of her new pretties with me. The first collection from Sea Lore is called The Triton’s Daughter’s Collection and is inspired by Disney’s The Little Mermaid.  According to Disney’s version of The Little Mermaid, Triton had seven daughters,  Arista, Ariel, Attina, Adella, Aquata, Alana and Adrina. Allow me to introduce Ariel, Adella and Alana to you.

Sea Lore Ariel has a light teal colored base with just a touch of iridescent shimmer and is packed with purple hex, red square and tiny green round glitters.  I layered Ariel over Milani Beach Front in an effort to make the chunky glitter pop off the nail.  Ariel is a versatile polish that could be layered with any number of polishes.  The formula is amazing for being an indie polish and was very easy to apply.

Sea Lore Adella is probably my favorite of the three polishes I received.  I was a little unsure of it when I saw the bottle shots.  It seemed kind of boring but my thinking was that this was the one polish of the seven that wouldn’t get enough attention and I wanted to see if I could bring out it’s true character.  Was I ever wrong about this polish!  Adella has no problem standing on her own!  Adella is a combination of sophistication (golden flakes of glitter) with the slightest hint of funk (light lime green hex glitter) wrapped up in a shimmery pale yellow base.  I layered Adella over Catrice 240 Sold Out Forever.  I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED this combination.

Sea Lore Alana is so pretty and demure.  Alana combines hex, square and tiny round pink glitters in a pale pink shimmery base.  I layered this over NK Nail Enamel Pearl to highlight the femininity of Alana.  I have several pink glitter polishes but this is definitely my favorite.  The application of Alana was impeccable with just enough glitter on each nail so that it didn’t look clumpy and chunky.

It is hard to believe that these polishes are from an indie brand.  The formula on all of these was spectacular and they were extremely easy to apply.  There was little to no clumping of the glitter during application.  Most glitter polishes in my experience have been top coat suckers, often requiring more than one coat of top coat polish.   I applied one coat of top coat to all of the Sea Lore polishes and the surface of the nail was smooth.  I did find that if you wear the polish longer than a day you may want apply a second coat of a clear coat, although it is not necessary.

Jamie has really done her homework with regards to her venture into polish creation.  It is apparent from the polish formula, the bottle choice and labeling, and even her prompt shipping and excellent customer service that she takes her time and is eager to provide only the best product she can to her customers.  She has really done a fantastic job in creating a brand I hope we will see a lot from in the future.  Sea Lore polishes can be purchased on the Sea Lore website.  Polishes come in 15 ml bottles and 7.5 ml bottles and retail between $5.50 USD and $10.00 USD.

These polishes were sent to me for review.
