Glitter in the Air Doppelganger

Do you know what a doppelganger is?  I will stay here listening to Pink's Glitter in the Air while you Google it.

Honestly, I didn't know what doppelganger meant when I read it on one of my friends Facebook posts a while back and had to Google it myself.  Mirriam-Webster defines it as a double or an alter ego.  Today's post is of Deborah Lippmann's Glitter in the Air doppelganger, Revlon's Whimsical.

First let's look at Glitter in the Air.  I don't actually own Glitter in the Air.  (My purse strings are a little tight these days.)  But my lovely friend Kristen over at The Manicured Monkey does own Glitter in the Air.  She was kind enough to share some pictures of it with me for the purpose of this post.

Scrangie, a nail polish blogging icon, describes Glitter in the Air as "a milky, cloudy, gentle baby blue jelly. Very sheer. Sprinkled throughout the blue jelly base are shiny bits of large and small pink and blue glitter."  Revlon's Whimsical is very, very similar.

Whimsical is similar to Glitter in the Air in that it also has a similar milky, baby blue jelly base with pink and blue glitter suspended in it.  The jelly base in Whimsical might be a shade darker than Glitter in the Air.

I applied four heavy coats of Revlon's Whimsical so that the coverage would be opaque for the purpose of this post.  However in the future I will probably layer one or two coats over a base color.  Each coat dried quickly and the blue and pink glitters dispersed over the nail nicely.

The formula of this polish was superb!  I wore this manicure for a week with absolutely no chipping!  On the downside of that was the fact that it took quite a bit more effort to remove.  I even used the foil method to soak off the polish and I still had to work a lot of the glitter off my nails.

If Deborah Lippmann's Glitter in the Air is not within your polish budget Revlon's Whimsical is a very decent substitute.  Only a polish addict like you and me will know the difference!
